The Student Nursing Times Awards are back to celebrate student nurses and the organisations that support them for the 13th year running!

From today, the 2024 awards are now open for entries to students, nurse educators, practice assessors, plus organisations providing courses and placements, and more.

“We want to shine a light on the best of nurse and midwife education”

There are 23 fantastic categories highlighting excellence in all four branches of student education as well as other important areas of student life.

There are also categories dedicated to lecturers, practice supervisors, universities, trusts and private organisations going above and beyond to support student nurses on their journey.

Returning categories include Most Inspirational Student Nurse of the Year; Educator of the Year; the Mary Seacole Award for Outstanding Contribution to Diversity and Inclusion; Student Innovation in Practice; and Practice Supervisor of the Year.

We are also excited to announce a new category for 2024 – Outstanding Contribution to Sustainability, in recognition of the importance of tackling the climate crisis.

This award seeks to highlight a student or small group of students who has made an exceptional contribution to promoting sustainability and green issues during their time at university.

We also have our standout awards for the top final year students in each branch of nursing and also midwifery and research.

So, are you a student, educator or a practice supervisor who goes the extra mile or a university that puts student experience first? We want to hear about what sets you apart from the rest.

The awards are now open for entries – join the nursing community in shining a light on the brightest talent making their way into the profession.

Nursing Times editor Steve Ford said: “The new academic year is upon us, with students around the UK getting ready to either start or rejoin courses and educators preparing their teaching plans.

“It is also time to start thinking about your entry for the Student Nursing Times Awards, now firmly established as the premier awards for nurse education in the UK.

“We want to shine a light on the best of nurse and midwife education, and to celebrate those who have excelled on their courses and are the nursing rising stars of the future.”

The closing date for entries is 15 December 2023, after which our expert judges will review them, hold live interviews with entrants and decide who should go through as a finalist.

Those on the shortlisted will then be invited to attend our glittering awards ceremony at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Friday 26 April 2024, where the winners will be revealed.

Thank you to our sponsors NHS England, London Higher, Brunel University London, Birmingham City University, University of Nottingham and the National Institute for Health and Care Research.
