Registered Nurse Intensive Care Unit (Cassia Hospita)

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

Unit Description

Cassia Regional’s Intensive Care is a 6-bed unit that treats a variety of illnesses and patient types. The 6 bed ICU is connected with the med/surg department for a total of 25 beds. RN’s work closely with our on-site hospitalist, surgeons, medical doctors, and the Tele-critical care team from Utah as well as uses services such as Tele-neuro, Tele-psych, and Tele-infectious disease doctors associated with Intermountain Health to administer the best care possible to each patient. We treat a wide variety of adult patients with a diagnosis such as infectious diseases, cardiac and respiratory diseases, DKA, substance withdrawals, sepsis, PE, GI bleeds, surgical complications, psych issues, pancreatitis, electrolyte imbalances, BIPAP and ventilator patients as well as liver failure to name a few. Standard RN to patient ratio is 1:2 and at times 1:3 if patients are not too sick. If a patient is unstable on a ventilator the ratio is 1:1.

Preferred qualifications: Previous critical care or med/surg experience. On site clinical onboarding as well as McKay Dee training if needed.

Evaluate:
Evaluates patient response to interventions through review of achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, patient and family satisfaction.
Revises plan of care as indicated, and reassesses changes as appropriate.

Professionalism:
Promotes nursing profession and participate in development of others.
Integrates legal and ethical standards into practice: complies with regulatory standards, practices within scope of licensure, provides accurate & timely documentation, and understands legal implications of care delivery.
