Authorities in Nashville are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man involved in a disturbing incident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Allegedly, a woman, who is an employee of the medical center, was sexually assaulted outside the east parking garage on Saturday afternoon.

According to reports, the victim observed the suspect nearby and attempted to leave, but he forcibly restrained her, threatened her, and sexually assaulted her.

As per the Metro Nashville Police Department, the assault occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, outside the east parking garage of VUMC, situated in the 1200 block of 21st Avenue South.

The suspect, described as a White male with brown hair, a beard, and a mustache, was last seen wearing a white jersey with an orange No. 5 emblem and dark pants. Surveillance footage captured him heading towards Division Street from Broadway at 2:33 p.m. Vanderbilt University issued an email to students advising caution and providing safety tips, although some feel more campus awareness is needed.

This unsettling event marks the second assault on a VUMC employee within two weeks, following another assault in a waiting room on April 26.
